What is Modal verbs and its types ? | English grammar

Modal verbs
Modal verbs are an auxiliary verb that expresses necessity or possibility. English modal verbs comprises may, might, can, could, would, should, must, shall, will. These are so important in English language. Most modal verbs cannot be used in past/ future tenses. Modals are an auxiliary verbs. They do not need an additional auxiliary in negatives or interrogatives. E.g, he does not should come ( it's wrong) He should not come (it's right).

 May
   Uses: possibility, request
   Examples:1 he may travel by train.
                       2 May I come in?

 Might
   Uses: possibility  (less chances than may)
    Examples:1 I might come tomorrow.
                       2 It might rain today.

 Can
   Uses: It expresses ability, request
    Examples:1 You cannot lift heavy weight.
                       2 can you wash my clothes?

 Could
   Uses: It expresses ability, suggerstion, formal request
    Examples:1 I could play basketball when I was young.
                       2 You could take a taxi.
                       3 Could you switch off the light.

 Shall
  Uses: It expresses simple future tense
    Examples:1 I shall go to sajjanpur tomorrow.
                       2 We shall perform on the stage.

 Should
   Uses: It expresses to give advice or an opinion
   Examples: 1You should complete your graduation.
                      2 We should drive carefully.

 Must
   Uses: It expresses certainity,  obligation
    Examples:1 You must take this exam.
                       2 Look at the snow, It must be cold outside.

 Must not
   Uses: It expresses prohibition
    Examples:1 You must not drive car without license. 
                      2 We must not kill him in any situation.

 Ought to
   Uses: It expresses opinion, advice, obligation
    Examples:1 He ought to drive carefully.
                       2 She ought to take examination.
                       3 We ought not to cut trees.

 Need to
   Uses:It expresses obligation
    Examples:1 You need to study hard for exam.
                       2 We need to practice these terms many times.

 Would
    Uses: expectations, past form
      Examples:1 You would work hard daily.
                         2 Do not abuse him lest he would beat you.
